Folder to ZIP in your browser
This tool creates ZIP files online without uploading your folder to a server. It is useful when you need to send multiple files, archive a project folder, package CSV and JSON data files, collect documents or share a folder with its structure preserved.
What compresses well?
Text, code, CSV, JSON, HTML, CSS, logs and similar files usually compress well. JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF, MP4, MP3 and existing ZIP or RAR archives are already compressed, so the ZIP may not become much smaller. For images, compress them first with the image compressor if file size matters.
Folder to ZIP FAQ
Does the folder upload to a server?
No. Files are read by your browser and compressed locally with fflate.
Can it keep folder structure?
Yes. Keep folder structure is enabled by default when your browser provides relative folder paths.
Does it support many file types?
Yes. ZIP can contain almost any file extension. Some file types simply do not shrink much because they are already compressed.
Is Maximum compression the same as 7-Zip?
No. This browser tool creates standard ZIP files. 7-Zip can be smaller for text-heavy folders, but ZIP is widely supported and works directly in the browser.
Which browsers support folder upload?
Chrome and Edge have the best folder upload support. Other browsers may support selecting multiple files instead.
